UFC 300 LIVE: Max Holloway : One of the greatest knockouts in history occurred at UFC 300 on Saturday when Max Holloway faceplanted Justin Gaethje in the last seconds of their “BMF” title match.

After dominating Gaethje for five rounds, Holloway finished off an incredible performance with a captivating knockout that left Gaethje face-first on the ground.

In the process, Hawaiian Holloway defeated the American to win the “Baddest Motherf***er” belt; the winners of the other title bouts at UFC 300 kept their titles.

In the co-main event, Zhang Weili defeated Yan Xioanan, another Chinese fighter, to retain the strawweight title. In the main event, Alex Pereira stopped Jamahal Hill in the first round to retain his title at 205 pounds.

At UFC 300 on Saturday, the former featherweight champion of the UFC overcame fan favorite Justin Gaethje to earn the promotion’s ceremonial “BMF” title in the most outrageous way imaginable. Shortly after winning by unanimous decision, Holloway gestured to the middle of the Octagon and encouraged Gaethje to charge toward the buzzer.

Not only was it Knockout of the Year, but it was also maybe the most spectacular knockout in the UFC’s thirty-one-year history.

As per Aaron Bronsteter of Sportsnet, Holloway’s career bonus money received has increased to $1.15 million due to the windfall.

Although Holloway’s career bonuses are only six less than Charles Oliveira’s UFC record of 19, that massive amount still makes him the fighter with the most overall bonus money in promotion history.

“Well deserved,” White said. “It wasn’t difficult at all.”

For the second time in his career, Holloway, 32, moved up to lightweight and showed signs of his former self. He outhit Gaethje in every round by just going at a different pace.

After the first round, Gaethje’s nose was gushing blood, and he was simply unable to keep up with the fight’s intensity.

Holloway started the opening round with an exclamation point and maintained a consistent lead throughout.

The bell rang after the former champion sent Gaethje flying with a spinning backheel that hit his nose. Gaethje appeared to be in distress and touched his nose frequently during the intervals between rounds, suggesting that a break was likely.
