At fifty, actor Tyler Christopher from “General Hospital” and “Days of Our Lives” passes away.

A spokesman for the veteran daytime television personality Tyler Christopher, who was well-known for his extended run on “General Hospital,” announced his passing. He was fifty.

“This news was incredibly shocking, and I am devastated by his loss,” said Lo. “Apart from being an exceptionally talented actor, he was also a fantastic friend. My thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family, who truly loved him.”

Christopher, who is most known for playing Nikolas Cassadine on “General Hospital,” starred in over 1,100 episodes of the well-liked ABC soap opera from 1996 to 2016, according to CBS station KFMB-TV.

Acclaimed for his work on television, Christopher was nominated for four Daytime Emmys in the past 20 years (three for “General Hospital” and one for “Days of Our Lives”). In 2016, he took home the prize for best main actor in a drama series.

Days of Our Lives

Between 2001 and 2019, he also starred in 160 episodes of the renowned NBC soap opera “Days of Our Lives,” according to the network.

Christopher’s old “General Hospital” co-star Maurice Benard announced his passing on Instagram on Tuesday. Despite not providing an explanation for Christopher’s demise, Benard stated in the article that Christopher “passed away this morning following a cardiac event in his San Diego apartment.”

“Tyler was a truly talented individual that lit up the screen in every scene he performed and relished bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting,” said Benard. “To everyone who knew him, Tyler was a fantastic friend and kind spirit.

Advocated for improved mental health and drug-use treatment, Tyler was transparent about his battles with alcoholism and bipolar disorder. We pray for his father and children, and we are deeply saddened by the loss of our great buddy.”

Christopher’s wife

Actress Eva Longoria was Christopher’s wife from 2002 to 2004, then a few years later, he married reporter Brienne Pedigo. He has two children with Pedigo.

The executive producer of “General Hospital,” Frank Valentini, responded to Christopher’s passing on social media.

“He was kind, an incredible actor and a dear friend who was beloved by our #GH family and fans of Nikolas Cassadine,” Valentini stated in a tweet. “On behalf of everyone at @GeneralHospital, our heartfelt sympathies go out to his loved ones during this difficult time.”

Christopher had two children with his ex-wife and former ESPN reporter Brienne Pedigo, whom he wed from 2008 to 2021. He had previously been married to “Desperate Housewives” star Eva Longoria from 2002 to 2004.
