Tottenham confirmed team vs Chelsea – Richarlison starts, Maddison dropped and Moore sub

In preparation for Thursday night’s Premier League match at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea, Ange Postecoglou has made five changes to his Tottenham squad. In their second match in as many days, Spurs will aim to get back to winning ways following their 3-2 North London Derby loss to Arsenal on Sunday.

That will be easier said than done, though, given that Chelsea, despite their inconsistent performance under Mauricio Pochettino, has managed to record some noteworthy victories at home this season against the greatest teams in the Premier League.

Due to hamstring and calf injuries, respectively, Postecoglou has lost two players from his Tottenham starting lineup against Arsenal. Ben Davies and Timo Werner will miss the rest of the season. Due to his injury, Werner will not be able to return to Stamford Bridge following his two seasons with Chelsea.

The German international has been replaced in the Tottenham starting lineup by Richarlison, who impressed against Arsenal while coming off the bench. Son Heung-min, who has been playing as a striker for the previous month or so, moves back to the left wing with the arrival of the Brazilian.

Emerson Royal replaces Davies at left back in the squad. Due to season-ending injuries to Davies and Destiny Udogie, Spurs currently lack options at left back, forcing right back Emerson to play on the other side of the field.

Postecoglou has made other midfield changes for this evening’s match in SW6. The Australian has selected Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma, and Dejan Kulusevski as his starts in the middle of the park this time around after starting Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur, and James Maddison as his midfield trio in the home loss to Arsenal.

Mikey Moore and Oliver Skipp

Mikey Moore and Oliver Skipp join the matchday celebration as substitutes on the bench when the team loses two players.

When asked about playing Chelsea at his pregame press conference, Postecoglou responded, “Chelsea, their recent form has been very good.

” Despite the fact that Mauricio is a fantastic manager and they have some genuine talent, I believe that the game will be difficult because you’re playing in their stadium away from home and it’s a London derby.”
