Britney Spears: When I was dating Justin Timberlake I had an abortion

Spread the love

The first chapters of Britney Spears eagerly awaited memoir The Woman in Me have been released. They detail an abortion she allegedly had while dating Justin Timberlake and the cruelty she allegedly experienced during the unusual conservatorship arrangement she was placed under from 2008 to 2021.

Spears describes the abortion in the excerpts from the book that People magazine in the US published before the book’s release on October 24. I was smitten with Justin.

Justin was undoubtedly unhappy

I’ve always thought we’d start a family someday. Simply put, this would happen far sooner than I had imagined. However, Justin was undoubtedly unhappy about the pregnancy. He claimed that we were too young and unprepared to have a baby in our lives. I’m not sure if that was the best choice.

I would never have done it if it had been up to me alone. However, Justin was very certain that he didn’t want to have children. Between 1999 to 2002, when they were in their late teens and early twenties, the couple was engaged. Regarding Spears’ account, Timberlake has not responded.

Britney Spears writes: “Thirteen years went by with me feeling like a shell of myself during the conservatorship. I feel terrible when I recall how long my father and his friends were in charge of both my physical well-being and my financial resources. I turned into a robot.

A sort of child-robot, though, not simply a simple robot. I was beginning to lose parts of what made me feel like myself since I had been so infantilized. For a very long time, I suppressed my feminine side. Onstage, they wanted me to act like they instructed, wild, and offstage, they wanted me to act like a robot.

Jamie Spears

Jamie Spears, Spears’ father, has not responded to the excerpts but has previously defended the conservatorship arrangement, which had limitations such as Spears receiving an allowance rather than access to her own money. Where would Britney be today if the conservatorship hadn’t been in place?

She might still be alive, he said in December 2022, but I’m not sure. “Conservatorship was a terrific instrument for protecting both her and the children. I don’t believe she would have gotten the kids back without that.

Spears made a number of astounding allegations about the conservatorship in 2021 during court proceedings that finally led to her release from the arrangement in November of that same year, including that she was made to use birth control and take medication against her will.

Prior to the conservatorship’s eventual termination, Jamie Spears was removed from it.

Court proceedings

Britney Spears refers back to some of the claims made during the court proceedings in her autobiography as well as a voice note from August 2022 that she posted online before deleting, in which she claimed that her father had criticized her weight.

She says: “For a child, feeling like you’re never good enough is a terrible condition of being. Even after I had achieved so much, he was still instilling that message in me. He had done so when I was a girl.

She continues, “Onstage, I morphed into more of an entity than a human. They took the melody that I had always felt in my bones and blood. I wasn’t due the treatment my family gave me. My artistic creativity was killed by it.

Historic incident, Britney Spears

Spears claims that a historic incident in which she famously shaved her head was a response to the criticism she had experienced since scoring her first chart-topping hits in her late teens.

Since I was a teenager, “I’d been looked up and down, had people telling me what they thought of my body,” she says. “I used to push back by acting out and shaving my head. However, I was given to understand by the conservatorship that those times were now past.

Other excerpts include

Other excerpts include her youthful entrée into the entertainment scene, her snake-draped performance at the 2001 MTV VMAs, and her brief acting career in the recently re-released film Crossroads.

“The experience of filming wasn’t easy for me,” she explains. “I believe I began Method acting, but I didn’t know how to break out of my persona. That was really the start and conclusion of my acting career, and I was relieved.”

Spears has returned to music since the conservatorship ended, with the songs Hold Me Closer with Elton John and Mind Your Business with Will.i.am. She also married her longtime boyfriend Sam Asghari, but the couple divorced 14 months later.
