Meta Quest 3
The Apple Vision Pro was announced just days after Meta Quest 3 was revealed this month – and Meta Quest 1 was launched in 2019. When they officially launch, the latter in the fall and the former early next year, they will finally be available to us. An opportunity to fully compare these two prospective groups.
The two groups differ in their approach. Apple Vision Pro is a true mixed reality headset, designed to enable what Apple calls “spatial computing.” They interact seamlessly with the physical world, keeping users engaged through EyeSight.
In contrast, “MetaQuest 3” targets virtual reality enthusiasts, while also providing mixed reality capabilities by providing full-color locations. By default, it works like a VR headset, but it has additional AR functionality. It is worth noting that “Meta Quest 3” comes at a competitive price of $499, while the price of “Vision Pro” is $3,499.
While Apple Vision Pro and Microsoft HoloLens (first announced in 2015) offer immersive augmented reality experiences, they take different approaches. HoloLens targets enterprise applications such as industrial training and remote assistance. In contrast, Vision Pro focuses on direct-to-consumer use cases, leveraging Apple’s comprehensive app ecosystem, potentially providing a more diverse set of experiences.
Although both Apple Vision Pro and Google Glass (launched two years ago and scheduled to be discontinued later this year due to poor sales) are AR devices, they each serve different purposes. Google Glass is a lightweight wearable device that focuses primarily on notifications and hands-free access to information. On the other hand, Vision Pro provides a comprehensive augmented reality experience with powerful hardware and a wide range of applications.
Pros and cons of “Vision Pro”.

Consequently, this exclusivity may restrict the availability of certain applications or experiences compared to more open platforms. Nonetheless, it is important to note that despite these limitations, Apple’s commitment to innovation and user experience often leads to the development of unique and high-quality applications within their ecosystem.
Augmented and virtual reality devices typically consume a lot of power, and Vision Pro may have challenges providing long battery life. This may impact the user experience, especially for longer immersive sessions.
