Biden used the ChatGPT for the first time Biden was the first to use ChatGPT. This is how it transpired.

  • Evidently, President Joe Biden was thrilled by his initial experience with generative AI last year.
  • According to his scientific advisor, Biden and she gave ChatGPT several assignments, like breaking down a legal matter.
  • However, the encounter also compelled Biden to issue an executive order about AI security.

You would think that nothing could surprise President Joe Biden after more than three decades in the Senate, eight years as vice president, and three presidential campaigns.

So he gave ChatGPT a try in the spring of last year. A few months later, he signed legislation that was broad and addressed the new technology.

The director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and Biden’s main scientific and technology advisor, Arati Prabhakar, told Wired that she and Biden gave the bot some assignments.

She explained that first, they requested it to describe a case as if it were speaking to a first grader between Delaware, the state that Biden represented as a senator, and New Jersey, the home state of singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen, to whom Biden had recently received the National Medal of Arts. The bot responded right quickly, saying things like “OK, kiddo,” according to Prabhakar.

Then, she added, they gave it instructions to create an image of Biden’s dog, Commander, in the Oval Office, a song in the vein of Bruce Springsteen, and a legal brief for a Supreme Court case.

In October, Prabhakar issued a broad executive order as a result of Biden asking the team to investigate the possible threats associated with artificial intelligence (AI), as he revealed to Wired. Major IT companies are required by the order to disclose testing results, alert the federal government of their work, and follow specific safety guidelines.

At a meeting in early October, Biden reportedly informed his cabinet that artificial intelligence would impact every department and agency’s operations, according to Politico. He remarked, “The rest of the world is looking to us to lead the way,” the publication reported.
