Dozens of activists and tweeters in the Arab world expressed their joy and solidarity on social media platforms with the Palestinian resistance after it launched Operation “Al-Aqsa Flood.”
On Saturday morning, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military arm of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), launched an unprecedented military operation against Israel, which included the firing of thousands of rockets, infiltration and storming of settlements, and the killing and capture of dozens of Israelis.
The clips of the capture of Israeli soldiers and the storming of Israeli military sites received widespread interaction, as tweeters demanded the distribution of kunafa to celebrate these operations, which they described as heroic.
Activists also mocked the scenes of the mass escape of Israeli settlers and the disappearance of many of them inside garbage containers.
Many tweeters attacked the normalization of relations with the Israeli occupation by a number of Arab governments and ignoring its crimes against the Palestinian people.

Saleh Al-Arouri
In turn, Saleh Al-Arouri, Deputy Head of the Political Bureau of the Hamas Movement, said, “The mujahideen of the Gaza Strip began a wide operation with the aim of defending Al-Aqsa Mosque and liberating the prisoners,” stressing that the battle is “a justification for the Israeli occupation, and it came in response to its ongoing crimes.”
In his speech, Al-Arouri called on the West Bank to participate in the battle by opening a clash with the settlements, considering that the West Bank “is the final word in this battle.”
The name chosen by the Palestinian resistance for the operation “Al-Aqsa Flood” bears the significance of a response to the ongoing Israeli violations of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Islamic holy sites in the city of Jerusalem.
A state of war
The Israeli army said after the operation that it was “in a state of war,” and sirens were heard in southern and central Israel and the city of Jerusalem, while Israeli media reported that gun battles took place between groups of Palestinian resistance and security forces in towns in southern Israel.
The Israeli army spoke of a “double operation” carried out by the Palestinian resistance, which included launching rockets and “infiltration.” Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said that Hamas is waging “a war against the State of Israel.”
For his part, Israeli President Isaac Herzog said in a statement, “The State of Israel is going through a difficult time,” while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video statement, “We are at war and we will win.”

During its first hours, the operation resulted in the killing of dozens of Israeli soldiers and settlers, and the capture of 35 others, some of them soldiers. It led to the closure of local airports in central and southern Israel for commercial use, and there were reports of traffic stopping at Ben Gurion International Airport.
Israeli media indicated that “it is not possible to count” the numbers of dead and wounded yet, while Soroka Hospital in Beersheba stated that it alone had received more than 80 injured so far.
Control of settlements
Israeli media said that resistance fighters took over the police station in Sderot, while other Israeli sources announced that 3 settlements in the Gaza Strip fell under the control of the Palestinian resistance.
Palestinian activists circulated pictures and video clips on social media of the seizure of Israeli vehicles in some areas of the Gaza Strip after the end of the clashes there.
In the same context, Israel closed the “Al-Karama” crossing, which connects the West Bank to Jordan, in addition to closing all military checkpoints surrounding the city of Jerusalem.
The occupation forces also closed the Qalandiya checkpoints, Shuafat Camp, Beit Iksa, and Al-Zayyim (surrounding Jerusalem), and completely prevented movement to and from Jerusalem.
In response to Operation “Al-Aqsa Flood”, the Israeli occupation army launched a military operation against the Gaza Strip called Operation “Iron Swords”, and began it with intense air strikes on the Strip.
